At this time, WCPSS teachers have not been given much information regarding plans for access/availability during the school closure. As we are awaiting more information, there are many different at-home resources you can use in addition to the WakeID portal. Below are some resources to use for at-home learning.
Literacy
Letterland Resources: This link will help parents introduce phonics and the different stages of literacy at home. Letterland provides fun ideas that you use to help with your child's reading and writing skills. (Currently WOES kindergarten is working blending C-V-C words with short vowel sounds; ie. hat, cap, man, bell, deck, vet, pin, lip, wig, hot, top, lock, nut, rug, bun)
Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems: Mo Willems invites YOU into his studio every day for his LUNCH DOODLE. Learners worldwide can draw, doodle and explore new ways of writing by visiting Mo’s studio virtually.
Fluency & Fitness: This site is offering a three week membership for free. This site will assist your child with reading fluency and phonics practice with included movement.
Math
Splash Learn: (formally Splash Math) This site is offering a free account for children to explore many different math strategies to practice while playing many different types of games.
Additional Resources
ABC Mouse: This site is offering a 30-day membership for free. This site has many different types of educational games, videos, and apps that will assist your child in their learning.
At-Home Learning Mats: Download FREE at-home learning mats that include all subjects for additional practice.
PBS Kids: PBS kids offers over 200 educational apps that children can play anywhere, anytime.
PBS Learning Media: This site includes video and lessons on every subject and grade level.
